For many years we have been making an ongoing effort to improve our expertise with a Research and Development program that is continually renewed and adapted to the changing needs of our customers.

The two main goals of Research and Development are :

• The ever-more precise modeling of physical phenomena in the dielectric, mechanical, and thermal fields in order to improve the reliability of our equipment already in service and to increase its lifespan; and,
• The creation of innovative technical solutions in order to meet the permanent evolution of our clients’ technical needs and specifications.

JST Transformateurs has consolidated extensive expertise in its productions, thus mastering the design and manufacture of: step-up transformers for power plants and networks of up to the 800 kV voltage category; phase displacement transformers; very high intensity rectifier transformers; rail network catenary transformers subject to regular mechanical stress; shunt reactors; and traction transformers on board trains.

Improving working conditions and reinforcing the safety precautions are also priorities of this program. This is the reason why certain workstations have been completely refitted following Kaizen actions.

The objective is to improve the calculation of losses in different parts of our transformers, including in the magnetic shields and in the tank, in order to calculate more accurately the heating of these parts and to optimize their design.
